Pomona is the site of the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds, home of the L.A. County Fair, the largest county fair in the United States. With over one million people attending annually, the fair is the link between California�s agriculture industry and the public, providing a community gathering place where people learn about California�s heritage and enjoy traditional fair food, activities and entertainment.

Pomona is the fifth largest city in Los Angeles County, California (after Los Angeles, Long Beach, Glendale, and Santa Clarita). As of the 2000 census, the city population was 149,473. In 2005, its population was estimated as 160,815.[2]

Pomona is the home of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, the third largest employer in the city. Some of the other major employers include the Pomona Unified School District, Pomona Valley Hospital, Lanterman Developmental Center, the city of Pomona, Casa Colina Rehabilitation Center, Verizon, Lloyd's Material Supply, the County of Los Angeles Department of Social Services, and Hayward Industries Inc. The city is also home to the Western University of Health Sciences.
